Business Meeting Nov 2016

Business Meeting

November 13, 2016

Prior to business meeting, Pastor James had us form into two groups to collectively pray for our church, revival, etc.

Lyle Jones opened the business meeting in prayer.  There were 11 present plus Pastor James.

John Stewart wanted to make two corrections to the October 9th minutes:

  1. Under old business the city permit sign is $25 per each side, so it is only $50, not $75.

  2. Under new business 5th paragraph change to “John Stewart made the motion to unsuspend the articles since the changes are made”.

John made motion to accept the minutes; Carol Firestone made a second.       Passed

Dyan Dunsworth made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s report; Hazel Stewart made a second.  Passed

John Stewart made a motion to accept James Butterfield for membership in our Church; Carol made a second.  Passed

Nominating:  Discussed that we needed a new nursery chairperson.  Peggy Bull said she was interested and we need to vote on her at our November business meeting.    We are still needing a Sunday School assistant director.   Vickie Locke       (Tangelina mentioned that she was not sure Bengt wanted to be responsible for the ushers when Preston is gone; need to clarify with Bengt.)

Nursery:  There were five Sundays.  Total of six kids.  Average of 1.2 kids each Sunday.  Hazel Stewart

Telephone:  There were seven calls in October.   Dyan Dunsworth

 Usher:  No report

Youth:  Nothing, as the Rockley’s were on vacation for two weeks.   Gerrit Rockley

Visitation:  No report

Old Business:

Karen Moore mentioned Peggy said she would be Sunday School Chairman but not for the Worship Service.  This has been tabled until clarification from Peggy.  Karen withdrew motion.

John Stewart advised us of the progress of the highway sign.  All the paperwork has been done and sent in and a check made payable to the city.   Still waiting to hear.

Carol Firestone mentioned that the shack pizza oven warmer control is not working; should we contact someone?  Lyle said he would look at it.

New Business:

Dyan Dunsworth read two notes from George Fields.

John Stewart asked about Wednesday night services and Karen asked if we’re having  a Christmas Eve candlelight service.  Decided no since so many people will be gone.  Pastor indicated he will be gone December 26th through December 31st.  He’ll try to make it for our New Year’s Eve game night; he’ll let us know for sure his plans.  Karen indicated she will not be here December 18th.

John Stewart mentioned that we will have the Lord’s Supper next Sunday, November 20th.

Carol asked if the shack has been decorated for Christmas yet and also if the bookshelves have been stabilized yet.  Lyle said bookshelves yes; shack no.

Karen said she doesn’t feel she’s doing a good enough job as worship leader and if we could start looking for someone else to lead the music.

John Stewart made a motion to adjourn; unanimous second.

Respectfully Submitted,

Dyan Dunsworth
